What is the difference between PVC heat shrink film and POF heat shrink film?

Heat shrink film is a kind of film that can produce a physical reaction when it encounters hot water or hot air, shrinking and tightly wrapping items. There are two types of commonly used heat shrink film, PVC heat shrink film and POF heat shrink film. These two kinds of shrink films have some differences in material, appearance, performance, price and so on.

1. Material difference

PVC heat shrinkable film is generally made of polyvinyl chloride resin with plasticizers and other chemical reagents, which are dissolved by heating.

POF heat shrinkable film, on the other hand, is made of high-density polyethylene and low-density polyethylene resins through a multi-layer co-extrusion process. This process can control the performance of the film, so that it has high transparency, high shrinkage, good toughness and other characteristics.

2. Different appearance

The appearance of PVC heat shrinkable film is white or milky white, and there may be some bubbles or imperfections on the surface. POF heat shrinkable film is transparent or translucent, the surface is smooth, flat, no bubbles and defects.

3. Different performance

PVC heat shrinkable film has better strength and toughness, but the shrinkage rate is lower, usually around 20% to 30%. In addition, due to the non-degradability of PVC material, this shrink film has a certain degree of pollution to the environment.

POF heat shrinkable film has relatively lower strength and toughness, but higher shrinkage rate, generally around 60%~70%. In addition, due to its multi-layer co-extrusion process characteristics, this shrink film has better tear resistance.

4. Different prices

As the raw material cost of PVC heat shrinkable film is low, so its price is relatively low. POF heat shrink film raw material cost is higher, so its price is relatively high.

In short, PVC heat shrink film and POF heat shrink film are different in material, appearance, performance, price and so on. When choosing, it should be based on their actual needs and the use of the environment for comprehensive consideration.
